There are very few iconic slasher characters to begin with, so I am not surprised that there hasn't been an iconic slasher since Ghostface. The horror genre was at it's most prominent in the 1980s.
2010 - present has been very good for the horror genre imo, but have left the slasher movies behind for the most part.
The slasher movie is a product of the 1980s and didn't really make a comeback. Scream is an exception.
Of course there is the possibility for a new iconic slasher, but based on the above, I think it is unlikely. The fact that we have only had one new iconic slasher in movies in the past 33 years says a lot.
