His movies use to have somewhat of a personality and even heart, but he has become a very cold and even lazier director over the years. 2012 has some great destruction scenes, but it is an emotionally dead movie. I bring up 2012, because it is his only movie since The Day After Tomorrow to leave any impression on me. ID4 2 is one of the laziest POS I have ever seen and pisses all over the fans of the original. It is one of the most forced sequels I have ever seen. Maybe he should go back to the historical genre. My favorite out of all his films is actually The Patriot, historical inaccuracies aside. That is my favorite too, but I think Mel Gibson was probably handling a lot of the directing. Just a guess based on the fact that it is a very much a Mel Gibson movie. After that my 2 favorites are Universal Soldier and Independence Day. I will even watch Godzilla once in a while. It is extremely dumb, but it is entertaining. It shouldn't have been labeled as a Godzilla movie though.
