One can argue the same about Rocky.

Still two great movies - and Raging Bull is based on a real boxer.

You could argue that but I think in Rocky's case the film - and the franchise as a whole - tips the balance more in the favor of boxing and the celebration of boxing, of competition, and of the underdog. Themes that encapsulate sports as a whole.

Raging Bull is more about the personal life and tragic psychological downfall of a vicious guy that happens to be a boxer.
