Back in the 70s, Bradford Bishop, a career State Dept officer, came home from work and killed his mother, wife, and three children with a hammer, then took their bodies down to the mountains of N Carolina and set them on fire.
He has never been found. However, over the years a former State Dept coworker is certain he saw him in Europe. Bradford saw him and fled. Same with a former neighbor and another coworker. It's still an open case.
