There's no fearmongering. We all have the right to choose for ourselves. You can choose to smoke all the cigarettes in the world. Nobody will ever stop you. I have no desire to smoke all the cigarettes in the world. And I have no desire to eat so much candy that I ruin my pancreas and become a diabetic. And I have no desire to gorge myself on fatty meat and ice cream until I die of a heart attack.
I just don't see any ads showing a fat dead person lying face first in a bowl of Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
It's moralistic tripe and it's selective outrage.
Joe Camel's in chemo! How cute.
How about Tony the Tiger on kidney dialysis? We'll never see that.
You're being led around by the nose and you don't even know it.
It's a political campaign aimed at tobacco companies which supported Southern conservative politicians.
There's enough outrage regarding obesity. They have made TV shows like My 600lb Life and movies like Super Size Me to highlight this and many more. And there are anti-smoking ads the world over, not just the USA. Again, at the end of the day it's your choice. Nobody is forcing you to do anything.
