He enjoyed a major career as a producer before making a late splash in movies including some very fine films. THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, EXECUTIVE SUITE, THE COBWEB, ALL FALL DOWN
As an actor I think of THE PAPERCHASE too - and yes the TV series was huge at the time (mind you we only had 3 channels at the time), but I also recall him in some other good movies - briefly in SEVEN DAYS IN MAY, THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR, OLD BOYFRIENDS and Woody's ANOTHER WOMAN
