The treatment of "Poor Jud is Dead" in the London production is also very well done. That was part of the darker interpretation put in by director Trevor Nunn. The actor who played Jud ( Shuler Hensley who is an American performer) was not just an excellent singer ( he was a trained opera singer who crossed over to musical theatre) but was also a very good actor. It was a very nuanced portrayal. The Curly shown here is also not the goody-goody type but was actually prodding on Jud to kill himself, rather maliciously.
