Una O'Conner racked up 85 film credits between 1929 and her death in 1959, with nary a screech in earshot. You can blame James Whale for her shrieking in The Bride of Frankenstein and The Invisible Man. He thought it was hysterically funny. She didn't, but he was the director and she did what she was told. One of her credits was in a 1952 Tales of Tomorrow tv episode titled, The Quiet Lady. I would love to see it, but it wasn't included in the 3-volumn DVD set released by Image. The title would certainly amuse anyone who has only seen her via James Whale. I'm always happy to find her in any movie where her delightful Irish accent and starched persona dominates every scene in which she appears. The Informer (1935)
