Political correctness changes all the time. No one was talking about 'woke' 10 years ago. It's a distinct brand of political correctness. Or perhaps political correctness has become more extreme.
Dunno what you mean by that, if you mean what constitutes as "progressiveness" in general, well yeah, because that's how progressiveness works. Back in the 90s/early 2000s, having gay characters on TV was considered "progressive" and often objected to by reactionaries. Nowadays most (decent people) don't really seem to care because well, we kinda moved beyond that, or "progressed".

Well no, again because "woke" is just a repackaged term for terms that already existed (PC police, feminazi, SJW, etc). If the term existed back then, LGBT shows like Queer as Folk and Will and Grace would have been called "woke". Hell even something like The Sopranos would have been called "woke" (one of the seasons was centered on a closeted gay mobster).
