I do agree that comedies (as well as horror movies) tend to get underrated on IMDb and that animated movies tend to get slightly overrated
I agree.
There are a ton of movies where I agree with the rating and the movies above a 7.0 tend to be good and worth watching and the movies below 5.0 tend to be just as bad as their rating suggests.
It is the movies between 5.0 and 7.0 that I tend to disagree with most often, either finding them much better than the rating or much worse than the rating.
Horror movies are divisive by nature, so I understand why many of them are poorly rated and I actually often agree with many of the ones that are poorly rated.
