I still like to use IMDb ratings as a guide because they’re generally pretty accurate (despite my disagreeing big time with a rating on occasion).I do agree that comedies (as well as horror movies) tend to get underrated on IMDb and that animated movies tend to get slightly overrated I think the IMDB rating is much better indicator than the tomatometer on RT. I have yet to find a IMDB rating of a movie that is highly egregious. But it happens all the time with RT, especially recently. Some examples: Black Panther 96%. (7.3 on imdb) Shape of Water 92% (7.3 on imdb) The Last Jedi 91% (6.9 on imdb) T would say the imdb is a pretty fair score for those movies wheras the RT is a huge over reach.
