Monster Hunter, solo - Van Helsing (2004) The movie sucks, but he's the monster hunter. Plus, Hugh Jackman. Badass. It does. What a wasted opportunity. It's a great basis for a big budget action movie, and you've got Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale in the lead roles. How do you fuck that up? The entire thing was filmed on a greenscreen and it shows. The soundtrack is constantly blaring and it doesn't suit the material at all. They never decided on a tone. Frankenstein's monster is the most compelling character in the story while Dracula is completely over the top. It's a mess from top to bottom. And if it's supposed to set up a franchise (which surely it was), why are you cramming so many of the classic monsters into the first film? It's a total disaster, and as you said, such wasted potential.
