New movies suck, everybody knows it, some deny it but we all know it. And it's not just any one thing, there are a lot of pieces missing from what made older movies great, and new ones boring and stupid and forgettable.
What are some things that are missing?
What I miss is when you actually got to see a real home. The other night I'm scrolling through the channels and Halloween II is on and the camera pans into that old couple's house, looks like a REAL home, like somebody actually LIVES there, and has lived there, that the house has been lived IN.
So many times in new movies, TV shows, everything is a matching color, walls, carpet, couch, pillows, all the same color, usually white, which NOBODY has with kids in the house, all sterile and lifeless, kitchen's pristine because nothing's ever used, nothing's touched, nothing's out of place, if they actually film in real homes, WHO lives in these places?
A little more pristine but in all fairness it was a new house and they'd recently moved, but there's still the lovely little clutter of things all jam packed together to fit on the counters.
As a kid this always looked like a fun house to live in.
Homes today are either shown as museum pieces where in reality nobody could touch anything, or they go overboard to make it a disaster area, nothing looks real, cozy, lived in, etc.
