I remember milk deliveries well. Also, there was a famous local bakery that actually sent out vehicles, not quite trucks, more like "service" station wagons, that could be summoned to usually a more upscale neighborhood where the women would come out and buy bread and pastries.  It's good to keep in mind that old movies presented so-called average American life as probably far more fancy and comfortable than it really was, especially, obviously, during the Depression. They didn't call the Hollywood the Dream Factory for nothing. Those elegant breakfasts were probably not so common for average people back then; and back in the Thirties a lot of average people didn't even have jobs!
