I have a few different thoughts about why God allows suffering, 1: Since God has given us free will, he also allows us to experience the consequences when we make bad decisions; 2: In the bible it says we will have trials and tribulations. So, the suffering is just a part of life. We will have trials and tribulations, but God will deliver us from them all. Sometimes physical death occurs, but our souls are still delivered. 3. If bad things did not happen, we could never truly appreciate the good things that happen too. There would not be anything to contrast them against. I agree with the way you're thinking when it comes to learning about life and finding a way to view life in a positive aspect when it comes to suffering. People try to find ways to explain why sometimes bad things happen in life and how to cope with it all the time, and that's why I think people are attracted to the Bible: it is an attempt to explain something they don't know about but come up with something that makes the most sense to them in explaining the way the world is. So should we ask this instead: Why would there have to be a God to allow suffering in the first place? The fact is, God or no God, there will still be suffering.
