Three episodes in and this is easily my favorite Marvel Disney+ show to date. I read this article this morning and I couldn't agree more. I've always been a fan of the character despite his limited role, he's probably my second favorite Avenger behind Cap. I don't understand why they didn't do more with his character (in terms of abilities, personality, anything) if they were going to bother to include him at all. The show is giving us the Hawkeye we deserved, and the material Renner deserves as an actor. Renner's Hawkeye is one of my least favorite MCU characters in general. I have said before that I felt Renner was woefully miscast in the role, and so this series was the one I was least excited for among the first batch of D+ shows. Yet that might have helped because it lowered my expectations and I now find myself really liking this show. If it can stick it's landing, it will be my favorite D+ show so far. I'm pleasantly surprised at how much this show is allowed to breath and just "be". The other D+ shows felt quite a bit too pretentious, whereas this just feels a bit more like old-school MCU where you can enjoy watching the characters just be themselves. I also find Clint's grumpy, jaded attitude extremely refreshing instead of the standard smart-mouthy, goofy male lead the MCU favors. The article you posted is correct: The MCU finally fixed Clint's branding, and I'm glad to see it's a unique one. Also as a side note: I'm a professional archer, and I relentlessly criticized Jeremy Renner's archery form throughout the movies since he had truly terrible form. I'm glad to see a massive improvement in his archery form here. I kinda feel bad for Hailee Stanfield though because Jeremey Renner is left handed so his bow is left handed. Whenever Kate Bishop uses her bow she shoots right-handed, but when she borrows Hawkeye's bow she needs to shoot it left handed. Must have been a pain for Hailee to train archery with both hands.
