I know this isn't a popular opinion on the board, but I don't give a rat's butt about guys using steroids, and these writers have a tendency to get a kick atop their high horse and casting players out of the HOF. This Sosa vs. Ortiz article is a perfect example of why the whole thing is a bit dumb. You know what, Barry Bonds is one of the greatest fucking players I've ever seen play. Put him in the Hall. Roger Clemens is a redneck, headhunting, roid-raging, cheating asshole who I wouldn't piss on if he were on fire. But dammit if he doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame. I like Rosenthal's list. Andruw Jones is iffy but even though his career numbers aren't great when looked at in a vacuum, he was, without question, the best center fielder I have ever seen. He made the position look easy. And while I wouldn't put Rolen in there necessarily, I know the arguments for him and they're pretty fair. Bonds, Clemens, Helton, Kent, Schilling, Sheffield and Wagner are no-brainers for me. Part of me doesn’t care about the Roid Era. You had to have your head so far up your ass not to see what was happening. Look at the photos of roiders before they started hitting moonshots and after. McGwire and Puckett are two good ones. But fuck Barry Lamar Bonds. The most sacred record in baseball was the single season home run record. And that selfish fuck pissed all over it. Barring a 125 game season, no one will hit 74 homers ever. Now it’s right in the same boat as the 19th century pitching record. That prick should not be honored for that. He’s almost up with Shoeless Joe Jackson, Chick Gandil and those dickbags. Goes for McGwire and Sosa too. I hear ya, and I get it, I just don't have the same vitriol towards it as most others do. Which is weird, because baseball is the only pro sport of the Big 4 I regularly follow. I just don't get into the sacrosanctity of the records, the HOF, all of that stuff.
