Please do not reply to this person ("Don't feed the trolls"). He has now arrived from the old boards where he/she loved to stir up trouble and arguments. The subject line is, I believe, the first use of the O-word on these new boards. I knew what I would find before I even opened the thread. The attack on "Citizen Kane" and the use of "Discuss" were both dead giveaways that we now dwell in troll territory. Even if other films were used in such threads (2001, The Maltese Falcon, The Godfather), they came to be known under the collective title of a "Citizen Kane is overrated" thread. Please please please please do not encourage this kind of behavior which is what contributed to the deletion of the IMDb boards. You may be right about the OP, however, I have to admit that as well crafted as Citizen Kane is it just doesn't click with me. When it comes to classic films I gravitate toward swashbucklers, screwball comedies, and anything starring Bogie or Bette Davis. Thanks for your reply and I understand your feelings about CK. However, the main thing I object to in the O.P. (other than the combative tone) is the capitalized OVERRATED. Whether you or I really like Citizen Kane or not, no one who loves it has "overrated" it. The O-word (as I facetiously called it) is a troll word that means "anyone who likes it better than me has got it wrong; I am the only one who has it right." Well, I happen to believe that whatever your opinion of the film happens to be, it is not "wrong." You are not wrong to like it, dislike it, or have mixed feelings. Don't ever let anybody tell you that you have "overrated" a movie you love. And, to repeat myself, please do not reply to "overrated" threads. They are started simply to insult people and cause hard feelings. To everybody else, this will be my last reply to this subject so I will not be responsible again for boasting this thread back to the top.
