One of the reasons I am not a Christian has largely to do with the non-Christian like behavior of most of the people who claim to represent that religion. People like Blade, Erjen, Ada, Cody, and the rest of their kind have convinced me that being a Christian is defined by being completely disrespectful, hateful, and basically evil to everyone else who is not in their club, and then hypocritically cry about other people treating you that way. I guess I've just decided that that's not the kind of person I want to be in life. That makes me sad, not that you are no longer identifying as a Christian, what you identify as does not change your fundamental nature, but that you let people like that decide what you will believe (I am sure that it is more complex than that, but that is the way you have framed it at least in part). The people you mention are nothing in real life, this is the venting ground for their impotent rage, what they say and do on the internet has very little to do with Christian morality or belief. I know I wont change you, and frankly I don't want to, but I do want you to know that most Christians (at least in my experience ) do not behave like the fools you mentioned, and I am hoping that I can help you see that. Bryce seems to have implied that he is shedding the tag of "Christian". He further seems to have suggested that showing disrespectful behaviour towards other is a "non-Christian" like thing. I suggest everyone to re-read his post. "Non-Christian" like behaviour being synonymous with behaviour of Blade, Ada, Cody and Erjen can only be believed by someone who still believes in values of Christianity (even though he may not be willing to be recognised as a Christian). |
