For instance, I think you can tell a lot about a person based on their stance on the Star Wars flicks. I myself, in the interest of full disclosure, am an unapologetic lover of the six Lucas films and not a fan of the new movies, or at least TFA. (I thought Rogue One was "fine," if superfluous.) I realize you differ and instead fall into the category of loving the original trilogy, hating the prequels, and thinking TFA is enjoyable but shallow and "badly written." This indicates to me that you are very much a traditionalist and of a certain level of refinement. I would guess that you always prefer the original theatrical releases to the 1997 Special Editions, as well. A real scotch-on-the-rocks type of dude. Maybe whiskey. Amirite? Heh, kinda. You've got my views of Star Wars correct... but in fact, I'm not actually that much of a Star Wars fan at all. I like them, but I wouldn't call myself a big fan. I'm waaaaay more of a Star Trek fan than a Wars one. Though I do have fond memories of queueing for like four hours with my brother and sister to get into Return of the Jedi. And yes, I'd go for the originals over the special editions. But that's not out of any great nostalgia for the originals so much as it is a judgment on the way the SpecEd stuff was done. Most of it is very poorly done, both technically and artistically. But on the other hand the original Star Trek series, which I DO dearly love, was also remastered - and I love the remastered versions of those episodes exactly because they were done with so much attention to the artistic intent of the original. Oh, and I'm nowhere near as cool as Bill Murray, and I would never pollute a single malt with ice! Fair enough. So we're agreed, then: you're gonna spark up a fatty and give The Phantom Menace another try? I guarantee Jar Jar will be more enjoyable.
