I mean it doesnt help that all lifetime movies as a whole are campy and over the top as well.
The two most obvious parts that prove it was a Satire was
a) Farrell's wife fell off a dock and lost her baby. Years later he still sits on a bench and looks at a pile of broken wood where she fell and blames her for losing their child. It's so over the top.
b) The ending, they are dancing and singing at the end of a ridiculous story and it says "Based on a True Story" I died laughing.
