No, but punk was one type of music that you really did need to be there and witness the hardship of London life at that time. It was bloody depressing and people were sick of over pampered pop stars. The lo-fi blasts of "The Clash" (forget the American version as that's a weird "hits included hybrid if memory serves and released later as they didn't get it at the time) and others like SLF, Pistols, x-Ray Specs Adverts etc. were a wonder to behold and genuinely changed our lives. The Clash, due to the individual members tastes were the best able to survive the built on obsolescence of the "movement" and mutate into other forms but God it was an exciting time. (Believe it or not, TRB were the best I saw live in Lewisham 78. Danny Kustow was a great under rated guitarist)
