Although the biggest surprise on the series was The Trio poised to be S6's Big Bad right up till S6E19 just to see Dark Willow take over on S6E20.

That's true, though for me it was all a sorry mess -- I hated the Trio so I was happy to see the focus removed from them but watching willow go Dark wasn't exactly the relief I had hoped for.
