Terms of Endearment (1983)--Emma (Debra Winger) is hanging out by the swimming pool of her more affluent best friend, Patsy. Patsy's housekeeper tells Emma that she has a phone call and brings the phone out to the pool and hands it to her. Emma starts giggling because--wow! A cordless phone! How grand! Younger viewers seeing this film for the first time might just assume that the reason she's giggling is because the phone is the size of a brick.
