Yelling "Free Bird!" at a concert has become synonymous with "you suck!" My musician brother and I used to argue about that. I thought it was just a stupid, fun thing to yell, whereas he knew better. Then at a King's X show, someone yelled it and Dug Pinnick said, "Did someone just yell 'Free Bird'? Fuck you." I conceded the argument. I'd never heard that yelling "Free Bird!" was a way of saying "you suck!" I've heard it yelled before at shows where I'm almost 100% certain that everyone there was a fan and it was just meant humorously. I adore King's X, and I can't imagine anyone going to a show and thinking they sucked! |
