it's obviously an arc, like DCEU-Bats he will go from edgy and grey to the more traditional approach, but hopefully updated at that.
With Superman you need a new approach as he has been in too many shows, films and other media depicting his childhood (10 seasons Smallville), career (Lois and Clark etc) and blood relations (Supergirl). Been there, done that!
Being traditional may still work with superheroes who have not been in the spotlight that much in the last decades, such as Cap America, but not with superstars like Superman, I rather watch the numerous classics in this regard.
