imho Bayern Munich's transfer policy so far is a mess: Costa - ok, not much damage done, but also a loss of two years. Sanchez - a desaster, that will cost us even money. If you take the taxes into account, both transfer will be mild to moderate losses...but more so we lost time to evolve our team. And where is the big name Uli was promissing...this guy from France: as useful or useless as Costa or Sanches. So, some German talents that might pay off in the future, two players who were nothing but a was te of money and time, and the next 40 million player who will prove to be a waste of money and time. You don't get CL-quality for 40 million these days. You analysed it perfectly a few weeks ago; the Bundesliga and Bayern don't have the draw to attract players in their prime for all the reasons you listed in your in-depth post. Rudy, Süle, Gnabry and Tolisso is a pretty good gage of who we were able to attract these days. The only thing to fault is Uli Hoeness' big mouth. But he kinda had to announce that a big player will be signed in order to maintain the image of outwardly confidence and attract the uproarious cheers of the fans. I'm not holding my breath for a big signing but am not counting it out either (yet). Also, you can't really fault Bayern for Costa and Sanches' failings. Costa had an amazing first half of a season after arriving, with his future as Ribery/Robben's long-term replacement looking bright. But his "Söldnermentalität" (mindset of a mercenary) took over rather quickly and he stopped performing and started looking out for his next destination. And we actually did very well in signing Sanches and beat out a number of top teams that were after him. His story isn't over yet and I hope he goes somewhere on loan, flourishes and comes back to play a significant role at Bayern (not confident about this, but I'm hoping...). Also, I'm a big fan of Coman and hope he gets a lot more playing time and has a stellar season.
