Re: Sunrise Semester--when I was a little kid and saw the listing for this show every morning, I thought it was some kind of children's show because I assumed "Semester" was a character's name (like "Sylvester") and it was relegated to the early morning hours with such similarly alliterative kiddie shows such as Sesame Street, Captain Kangaroo and Romper Room. In the summer months, the series was titled Summer Semester, and I pictured this good old Semester person romping around outside in the sunshine. Finally, when I was about 7 or 8, I decided to wake up very early and check this show out to see how much fun it was. It was a huge disappointment to discover it was just some boring show with a panel of professors droning on about physics or economics or whatever.
Hodge Podge Lodge was a great show. Unfortunately, such a show, an ecologically-minded series that exposed kids to nature, introducing them to the great outdoors, forest animals, plants, etc. would probably never make it today, when children are discouraged from even venturing outdoors.
