That is not to say all Marvel fans are this way and Marvel itself is not even the true people to blame with their lack of female superhero movies since many comic book writers who work for Marvel have tried to get more female superhero movies made and have put down the executives of the MCU for not making a Black Widow movie. It is a few people in high positions that have stopped them from making more which Joss Whedon spoke about a few years ago and fans like the OP have the exact same mindset. Well, I never said that. ) but yes, the MCU has had a problem from day one with sexism and female characters and if they had done things right they would have had Scarlett Johansson play their biggest selling female superhero, Ms Marvel instead of Black Widow but Black Widow was easier to make into a side character in movies 'cause she doesn't have the powers Carol has and it would have looked worse having Carol in the movies for so long without giving her a Ms Marvel movie. Marvel have a number of female superheroes like Carol Danvers (Ms Marvel/Captain Marvel), Jessica Drew (Spider Woman), Shanna the She Devil, She Hulk, Elektra, Mockingbird, Jessica Jones, SpiderGwen, Silk, Hellcat, Medusa, Angela etc that could have their own movies but they refused to use Ms Marvel, Spider Woman, Shanna, She Hulk and Angela; wasted Mockingbird, Jessica Jones, Hellcat and Medusa on TV and have to work with Sony to use SpiderGwen and Silk like they just did with Spider-Man.
As for the OP, there is nothing more threatening to an insecure man than a strong woman who owns her sexuality. This is what we are seeing here and he is also very afraid that sex appeal is going to get more people to see female superhero movies. He claims female superhero costumes look ridiculous when they’re translated onto screen but he overlooks the fact that male superhero costumes look silly too and if I saw somebody dressed up in a Flash, Captain America or Spider-Man costume I would laugh at them and have trouble taking them seriously. He also forgets these are superhero movies as a member on this thread pointed out and are meant to look fake. If he can take a person in a bright blue and red costume swinging from cobwebs in the sky and a talking raccoon seriously but can’t take the Wonder Woman costume seriously there is something seriously wrong with him.
What he means to say is he doesn’t take female superheroes seriously ‘cause they are female and not males. We know how much some sexist insecure guys are threatened over strong female characters in movies and TV shows and I saw it in full swing on the ‘Dark Matter’ board on the IMDB boards back in 2015 when Two saved the crew by herself when they were captured. There were insecure guys literally popping their pants over it even after it was revealed she was half cyborg ‘cause it was a woman saving everybody and not a man.
