So I think they're allowing more people in on Peter's secret so more people can cover up for him when he needs to do stuff. It makes more sense in a modern setting where we actually consider side characters decently intelligent beings (unlike Lois Lane unable to see through a pair of glasses disguise).

Tony was completely ready to announce Peter's identity in a live press conference.

Secret identities are more important to certain characters though. Spidey IMO is one of those characters.

Marvel was actually quite smart to discard the whole secret identity thing for most of its characters because there's a certain point where it gets repetitive and also restricts story telling possiblities. But Peter is a good character to keep this trope for. Spiderman without a secret identity seems wrong to me.
