The "pig farmer" thing was always more of a joke than anything. I raise about a dozen feeder pigs each year but haven't had a breeding hog operation in over a decade. I've always raised beef cattle, chickens, corn and winter wheat as far as raising anything for market is concerned. I raise a little of almost everything else just for personal use. I killed the groundhog yesterday on my mother's farm that my girls have been helping to run since my dad, their granddad, died a few years ago. Her farm is a diversified poultry operation (chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese), a small peach and pecan orchard, and about 25 acres of cotton. Groundhogs can fuck up a cotton field in a short time. Whatever, dude. I just hate killing anything. In 2008 I shot and killed two rattlesnakes, but I didn't enjoy it. Yeah, it's much easier to have somebody else do your killing for you so you can maintain the sanctimony and hypocrisy.
