3. 15% was acceptable when Reagan was in office. 18% minimum, 20% is better (and easier to calculate). Math question - Say a restaurant bill from the Reagan years was $10 and now it's $20. Then 15% would go up proportionately, from $1.50 to $3.00. Is there some reason why the percent should go to 20%, and thus the tip from $1.50 to $4.00? Other than the fact that the minimum hourly wage has been stagnant.
