stefancrosscoe There is something special about John Candy. Even in roles in films I did not care for, he is so very watchable. (cough Uncle Buck cough) Another one I especially liked was Only the Lonely ! Not "fall down laughing funny" but such a nice guy that you can only hope that things work out for him. Yeah, John Candy was and still is (for me and probably most of his fans too) one of the most likeable (even when he is playing a not so good/kind figure/character on the screen), and that is not often I see nowdays. He had that natural kidness/sweetness that seemed natural and not "forced" upon the viewer, and as you said, the kind of guy you can only root for/hope things turn out well in the end of the day. I have always wondered how his film career would turn out if he had stayed with us. Would he end up doing indie/smaller movies like Bill Murray, maybe a TV-show (well he had Camp Candy) or more films with John Hughes and so on. I do believe Candy had many great and movie roles lying ahead of him, even though some of the later films he did, was not all that "impressive", he still managed to make them watchable, just by being in the film, and I own most of his films, which I will probably never do when it comes to most of my other favorite actors/comedians. Additional wonderful scene just came to mind: Del selling the curtain rings to make some $$$$ ! I love that part, so funny: "This is Czechoslovakian Ivory!"
