Why modern art has become absurd and stupid?

At the end of the day, it is all subjective and in the eye of the beholder. Does it work and if using art for decoration\design and adornment, what might look good in one place, may look terrible in another.

I prefer the classic works; but I have learned to open my mind up a lot more to abstract and modern works. Use of colors, space and shapes are important to me.
