So far I've mentioned 1950s series, how about a 1990s series? Timeless Tales from Hallmark was a 1990s series hosted by Olivia Newton-John. A bunch of cute adaptations of popular fairy tales. Fun. I enjoyed it.
Knock on Any Door was a 1965-1966 British anthology hosted (according to IMDb) by Ted Willis. Haven't seen it, but I believe it still exists in the archives unlike a lot of 1960s UK TV...would like to see it.
