Gorgo 1961 is a rather charming giant monster movie in it's own way, and I too liked the ending, a surprice since it didn't followed the usual standard of how giant monsters usually winds up.
A remake is offcourse possible, but I'm not sure if they wan't something terrorizing London, since there is real terrorists loose there.
They made Flood 2007, about London being flooded, with lots of CGI, but it didn't create much enthusiasm from critics or paying audiences.
