William Hurt was nominated for an oscar for an 8 minute role in A History of Violence, so screentime isn't a factor. Michael Caine was superb in his role, and on screen at least 9 minutes, but TDKR could have been better. If he'd acted to that degree in an adaptation of "whatever happened to the caped crusader?" that would certainly be something.
