What I was saying was incoherent is the idea that one likes a film but realizes it is bad. Re "guilty pleasures," I don't have any. I could name films that I like that most other people don't, but I'd have to pay more attention than I normally do to what other people like in order to do that. I'm not someone who usually worries about consensus opinions. There is the difference. Many people do like movies the actually think are bad. In fact the term "so bad it's good" is used to describe movie that people enjoy because of how bad they are. Guily pleasure is much different though. I think the best way to descibe it is a movie that is dumb fun. I consider movies that are dumb fun to be good movies but they arent good in the same way as an intelligent well written movie is. Furious 7 for example is entertaining because of how idiotic it is imo, and that is a movie that is pretty well liked. Something that actually surprises me. I know people use the term "so bad it's good," but the idea is incoherent. What it is for something to be good or bad is for someone to like it, to prefer it to alternatives, etc. Insofar as you're enjoying something, that's good to you, it's not bad to you. It might not be the same as other persons' opinions, but different people simply have different preferences.
