Larry Drake and Colin Friels are great bad guys, Frances McDormand is an appealing leading lady, and of course Liam Neeson is awesome as the hero. His "elephant" scene is indeed hilarious.

I would say that this and Robocop have them going for them. They both feel like a real life and graphic novel, but aren't based on anything. In the case of dark man, I think one of the biggest contributors to it feeling like a comic book is the Danny Elfman score.
