Actors that were said to be the next big thing, but weren't

Taylor Kitsch . He had TWO massive bombs in 2012 (John Carter & Battleship) . He was basically set up for failure imo . I still like the guy and consider John Carter to be a lot of dumb fun . Also I think he was good in Friday Night Lights (TV series) , Savages , The Bang Bang Club, and Lone Survivor. He's still getting some steady work so thats good . Hopefully he'll have another chance at a leading actor role. I know Hollywood is courting Channing Tatum for the Gambit movie (if it ever happens) but Kitsch was pretty good as Gambit in X Men Origins : Wolverine and I'd welcome him to reprise the role.  Plus, he 'd be way cheaper than Channing Tatum.

Wasn't Taylor Lautner supposed to be the next big thing? That guy cannot act AT ALL.
