Looking at the wiki page, and the section for awards/nominations she seemed to be the next big thing as she was awarded Best Villain, Best Breakthrough Performance, Best Female Newcomer, Funniest Actress in a Motion Picture, Best Female Performance and Most Desirable Female Actress, all within a 2 years span.
But on the other hand, she did get the Worst Supporting Actress not long afterwards for Batman & Robin, and then it seemed like her upcoming period more or less died very fast.
She went from doing music videos for Aerosmith to becoming one of the most promising young teenage actors starring as the lolita/femme fatale in the erotic/thrillers such as The Crush (1993) and The Babysitter (1995), and when Clueless (1995) came out, she seemed to hit off with both the critics and audience alike. In 1997 she got the part of Batgirl in Batman & Robin and later the same year she got the lead in the romantic/comedy Excess Baggage against Christpher Walken and Benicio Del Toro. Do not remember any other of her 90s films, but compared with Claire Danes, Keri Russell, Reese Witherspoon and other teen stars, she seeemed to never reach the same heights as of the mid 90s, and I have not seen a film with her since the awful Scorched (2003), but I almost picked up a horror film called Vamps (2012), where she is supposedly one of the leading parts.
Looking at the IMDb she seems to have done a lot of new films since 2012, but nothing that looks like they might give her a comeback of any kind. And a lot of them is voice talent related, which I think she began with as early as back in 2000-01 with the animated show, Braceface.
I remember having a huge crush and a gigantic poster of Alicia hanging on my bedroom wall, but I had to take it down as my mum was not too impressed, still I had a great VHS copy of the erotic/thriller The Crush (1993). The kind of typical early 90s thriller with a psycho female in the lead role, serving as the temptress for some naive guy who's life is suddenly turning into a living nightmare etc, but still one of the better or more enjoyable erotic thrillers of that era.
Not sure why her career bombed so sudden, as from 1992-95 she seemed to be on a great roll of success with several big MTV music videos, erotic thrillers and then hit it real big with Clueless, but after that the only film I saw of her was a rather bad crime/comedy with Christopher Walken in 97 and of course as Batgirl in Batman & Robin (1997). Which I guess was a bad move for everybody involved.
