I don't think any studio is going to be willing to put a major movie on that particular month. While Avatar 2 could very well end up falling flat on its face, the fact that it's predecessor is currently the highest grossing movie worldwide will likely discourage other studios from challenging it. A good Marvel movie will make short work of anything James Cameron is capable of. I believe Marvel already has their movies for 2020 scheduled, don't they? I suppose Disney could possibly put a Star Wars movie in that month, but it seems like they prefer releasing them in May. The only reason their first 3 Star Wars films were released/scheduled for December was because of production delays. Besides, I'm not sure it's a good idea to underestimate James Cameron.
