Why? Because he knows how to manipulate the lowest common denominator? Because his last two films were massive hits, with Titanic in particular having been number 1 at the box office for 15 consecutive weeks, and a total gross of $1.8 billion in an age where movies didn't benefit from 3D ticket prices, and China was a much smaller market. Like it or not, James Cameron's past few films have been huge money makers. Yea, I know, and they're not even that good.
