The Betz mystery (Sphere or Orb)
In 1974, the Betz family, discovered... a bizarre, allegedly self propelled, seamless metallic orb, with an elongated triangular shape stamped into its surface... on their 88-acre swathe of woodland property on marshy Fort George Island, which is nestled just east of Jacksonville, Florida.
The "Alien" sphere, which had unusual properties, seemed to cause all kinds of unusual & paranormal activity and rapidly became the object of fascination, controversy, and alarm for scientists, military officials, ufologists and the general public.

I understand there are a few inconsistencies in that particular article... But doing a Google Search does bring up other articles and it does seem that the Betz Sphere was real, and that it was quite mysterious...

While there have been many theories put forth, as to what it was, nothing seems to have ever been confirmed as to what it was, and why it could do the things it could do...
