Maybe they wanted him to be a bit smaller since he's going to be captured? I don't know how long he's in captivity, but I guess that would tone his bulk down a bit.

It's odd, though. Other than Hulk, he should be the biggest and most ripped of any MCU character.

I thought of that but then he gets captured and is made to work as a gladiator. If anything, that should get him even more cut and jacked. It's not like he got his jacked physic training in an Asgardian gym. He's supposed to be built like that because he's a warrior, and fighting in a gladiator arena shouldn't make him any smaller.

I wonder if they just wanted a whole new look to go along with the cut hair and lack of Mjolnir? A soft redo of his look for future MCU entries maybe.
