How would that work with no fielding, no base-running, etc.? Two ways you can do it, when the batter strikes the ball, the bowler runs to retrieve it (this means speed now becomes a useful attribute for a player), the batter meanwhile makes as many runs, or home runs as he can... OR, you put like grid markings on the pitch, if the ball bounces in the 2 point area, you score 2 points, if the ball lands in the 3 point area... well I think you're getting the drift. Either way would be a massive improvement in my opinion. But you'd lose all of the strategy that makes the game so well balanced.
