Yep.I'm a Phils fan. Would love nothing more than the Phils to be fighting at the top of the NL East either for the division or a wildcard.
Ain't happening. Rebuild had has hit some major bumps in the road and some of the kids on the farm - 'J.P. Crawford' comes to mind and guys they were supposed to build their team around - Maikel Franco - don't seem like 1/3 of the players they were supposed to be.
Curious to see what they do with all this money they have stashed.
That being said - I don't have a strong dislike for the Nats and Fish like I do the Bravos and Mutts - and I guess you can say I'm a rare breed when 'your' team blows - I want the division rivals to do well - makes that rivalry and when they come into your 'park' that much more fun.
As a Phils fan - do you think I want to go to the park and see a last place Nats team that sucks - or a team that is competing for the division every year and the Phils knock them out of the playoff hunt the last week of the season. Makes the game that much more fun and interesting in my eyes than your team beating up on the Little Sisters of the Poor.
As a sports fan - going to Citizens Bank Park from 2007-2011 was the funnest time in my life - you just knew the Phils were going to kick the living crap out of the opposition (especially 2008-2011).
But in my eyes - it's that much more sweet - when the other team is a rival and they're considered above average and a contender as well.
I love the fact the Eagles play the Cowboys on New Year's Eve at home the last game of the season - I hope they're both fighting for the Division - and the Birds bury them 48-0 knocking them out of a playoff berth or down to a WC. Even sweeter? They in turn meet them in the playoffs and kick the living crap out of them again sending them home for the year. That in my eyes is 'fun' - the cherry/icing on top so to speak. Not when the Cowboys are 2-14.
