And you know what our 2nd rate comedians do? They end up landing top jobs presenting top American chatshows... while Bill Burr is still doing podcasts in his grundies. You just can't get enough of us!
And when one Brit standup ever gets near the fame of Bruce, Carlin, Pryor, Murphy, Rock, Burr, Black etc. then call me. Has the UK done anything genuinely funny since Python?
I doubt the average person in Britain has even heard of most those guys. I only do because I watch a lot of stand-up. Only really Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor are well known, and that's really more to do with them being in films.
If you asked someone here who the comedian Chris Rock is, and even showed them a picture, they'll probably be more likely to say "oh, is that the guy from Rush Hour III?".
