The Charlottesville incidents even made the top news in German radio stations.
When I heard about the car, I realized that what I suspected for years is true: KKK (or other far-rights) and IS are basically the same.
Religious fanatics, wanting a divisive society where people who are not members of the ruling class are second-class citizens (blacks/foreigners for the KKK/Far-rights, Non-Muslims for the IS; women and homosexuals for both); and they have no problems with driving cars into groups of people who don't agree with them.
In contrast, Breitbart is full of talk about how the president didn't really denounce the supremacist driving a car into the crowd... he just sort of "spread blame" for the guy. And that's not seen as a negative, there's nothing about how awful the act was, it more just a sort of positive chatter about how the Prez didn't REALLY condemn the white supremacists. Every single page feed of the southern folks are silent as a church mouse.
And Stormfront is CROWING over it. This whole thing is seen as a big "thumbs up" from leadership.
There's a lot of cutesy "Oh, come on, there's only a couple hundred of them..." from armchair supporters, but Trump's unwillingness to step up and slap it down shows you one thing plainly: it's not just *them" at the event - there's a sufficient number of "them" sitting at home nodding their heads in approval as protesters fly through the air that Trump is unwilling to risk their vote and support. During his campaign, whole arenas were full of people cheering as he had black protesters drug bodily away (and roughed up more than a little) while he stated PLAINLY that "They used to pay for stuff like this, folks...". Whole arenas - there are FAR more than a "couple of hundred". There's just a couple of hundred dumb or reckless enough to show their faces in support of race supremacy. The rest just nod from their armchair. These are probably the same folks who insist confederate monument are just about "heritage" even as they are surrounded by people covered in swastikas. They say it's "not about race!" when voting for Trump but this is all fine and dandy, I guarantee you.
Stormfront's reaction is, of course, precisely WHY there need to be counter protests, and also why senators need to call out Trump on his milk-toast stance on the issue, all comfy white suburbanite "Oh, this is just dumb!" garbage aside. It doesn't take much to go from armchair to assembly, so long as they know it's safe.
