I think if they ate once and got food into the water, that one "contamination" is enough to keep them away from the bowl next to it for good.

They have long memories. I was pissed at her for going in and out too many times and slammed the door behind her. Since then, when she wants to go out, she either won't go to the door or moves way away from it until I get there and open it.

I really need a cat door.
